We tried to use Microsoft advertising. Primarily because this is the only way to access DuckDuckGo search engines marketing. We found on our website that DuckDuckGo what is the second most common used after Google. We’ve been using Google advertising for many years and so we decided to add DuckDuckGo.
  • They have a person who cannot help you, quickly get back to you.
  • In my opinion, their ad platform is the worst in the social media industry.
  • They don’t seem to have the ability to distinguish the difference between legitimate and fraudulent accounts.
  • Once they mistakenly label an account as fraudulent, they have no way of correcting their mistake.
Despite using our account for advertising with every other social media company, Microsoft flagged ours as fraudulent. After dealing with them for weeks, we finally got to a manager, who said that they didn’t know anything, couldn’t provide any information, and was unable to do anything about it. It seems odd, but it would flagger account every time we try to upload the campaigns from Google directly into their ad manager. I would suggest if you try and use their platform, don’t tell them you’re using Google cause they seem to have a thing against it. Once your account is flagged, they have no reasonable way of resolving it, nor they are able to offer any support. You’re better off to just try a different way. Ultimately, just don’t use Microsoft advertising if you can possibly avoid it. Hopefully soon DuckDuckGo will have their own advertising platform and we can eliminate Microsoft given the terrible time we have working with this one of many, social media platforms.

Pay Per Click (PPC) Campaign
  • Agent availability
  • Click Fraud API non-existant (unlike Google)
  • Deceptive advertising (Offer $500 on $100 spend is a scam)
  • Advertising network is comprised of click fraud sites, and it's the default on MS Ads
really wanted to give Microsoft a chance, but unfortunately, they proved beyond a shadow of a doubt to be an immoral and untrustworthy company. They offered $500 if you spend $100 on advertising, to which I agreed after years of leaving the platform. Not that it's a lot of money compared to what I was going to be spending on ads, but the fact that they reneged on this without even a review (they just sat on it and never answered questions about why we didn't qualify for it) was quite telling of the culture of deception. But I thought, ok ... maybe it slipped someone's attention, after all, I was going to spend thousands on ads per month. SO... I started advertising. The first thing I noticed in Google Analytics, is that the default advertising network was maximizing click spend on what appeared to be dubious sites, EVERY ONE had a 100% bounce rate, and 0.00 time on the page. What put me over the top was that after an investigation they said there was no evidence of click fraud. This was the straw that broke the camel's back. At this point, I was convinced that this was just a scam at the highest corporate level. Sad but true.

I signed up to use Microsoft Advertising to advertise my online boutique. I was initially just trying it out. Within a month, my site went down, appeared to be hacked. I canceled with Microsoft as soon as the site went down. We can’t advertise if we aren’t up. The people who were working on the site to repair it were with an advertising agency. It took them weeks, and then they wanted to handle the advertising. Therefore I did not reinstate Microsoft advertising immediately. I kept receiving bills from Microsoft advertising after I canceled in November. I responded to please cancel. Motherless they continued to bill. I did try to contact them in every way that was available to me. They would send bill receipt emails with a link the link didn’t work. I thought they had stopped the billing. In late February I wanted to try them again UNTILL I found out they had been billing the whole time, after cancellation. The next step talks to the Advertising Care support rep. I wanted the charges reversed and now that they had done this, I didn’t want to advertise with them again. They handled it by canceling the account saying I wouldn’t be billed further. That wasn’t good enough. I wanted the charges reversed. He came back to me offering a 25 percent refund over the last 60 days only. No. That wasn’t acceptable. Now I was going to have to dispute with my bank. From there out the rep just placed the blame on me. He said the billing emails they sent that I responded to are unmanned, Insinuating that the canceling was not valid. That was not the only way I had tried to contact them. I’ll set the diagnostics on the back end of my website to show less than 3000 visitors to the website from Microsoft advertising over the four-month period? Would never go back!
  • N/A
  • Better communication with clients.
  • Responding to clients needs.
  • Acknowledging when they are in the wrong.
I just didn’t see communication past taking my money. And according to our diagnostics even when they were running the advertising they say there was very traffic through them. I don’t think they care about the client at all beyond the money.

Microsoft ads function as a cheap copypaste version of Google Ads offering almost the same choice of PPC ads except for a few modern ones plus their own ads on LinkedIn.
  • Importing from Google Ads
  • Running basic campaigns
  • Fast support
  • The service is stuck in a bunch of technical problems that they haven't been able to solve for a long time - for example, the username of an account or to delete an account completely. In Google Ads, it's not a big issue, but here I lost dozens of hours talking with useless support
  • Their support reps don't have any power to solve any of the technical problems you may encounter, they just explain to you why you don't need any of the bugged features
  • Manager accounts are also implemented terribly creating more mess for their accounts
  • The system periodically locks your account/s and asks for verification. Hello "Usage limit exceeded. Try again tomorrow." when you can't access your account for hours
If they had solved all the technical problems and inconveniences, the service would have been rated above average, although not up to Google Ads. But technical support and bug fixing on Microsoft ads are just terrible.

We use Microsoft Advertising as our marketing campaign application, which goes beyond boundaries to share our brand information and reputation with clients all over. Further, Microsoft Advertising helps us in authoring, and publishing authentic and creative marketing content, which when posted, gets audiences interested in doing business with us. Furthermore, Microsoft Advertising supports ads; one of the easiest, [most] efficient, and [most] successful tactics in marketing.
  • Microsoft Advertising supports ads, on social sites mostly.
  • The tool incorporates campaign management.
  • Lastly, Microsoft Advertising supports paid search optimization, for SEO or high ranking.
  • Microsoft Advertising speed is low and time consuming.
  • Microsoft Advertising is rigid in content import or export.
  • The tool is inflexible and hard to configure.
For ads management, and social media monitoring, Microsoft Advertising is an excellent application. Furthermore, for organic traffic management and follow up, Microsoft Advertising has shown great progression. The search engine advertising feature is also deployed into Microsoft Advertising, making our brand ranked higher in Google. Finally, the tool supports communication in a universal scope, hence, it plays a global role.

We utilize Microsoft Advertising [(formerly Bing Ads)] as another platform to advertise on behalf of our clients. We are a digital agency that sells a large array of different advertising and marketing options and Microsoft Advertising is one of them. It is utilized by our digital department - and our Digital Media team specifically are the ones that are hands on keyboard. Microsoft Advertising allows us to expand our reach outside of just Google Ads.
  • Google Integration
  • Easy use of the platform
  • Reporting
  • Customer Support
  • Overall Reach
  • More competitive with Google
I have always had the belief that Microsoft Advertising [(formerly Bing Ads)] is a better platform to reach an older demographic. Let's face it - everyone and their mothers are using Google as their default search engine. You typically see an older demo on Bing. We've run several clients on Bing because we needed to reach that older demo & expand our reach beyond Google. However, we always seemed to have an issue with spending our budgets.
I don't think every client or business is the right fit for Microsoft Advertising.

We use Microsoft Advertising (aka Bing Ads) as one of the main paid search channels for our clients. It's not as large of an audience as Google Ads, but it is a good supplement, and the CPCs tend to be lower than Google Ads because there is less competition over there.

The people who work on the paid advertising side of things are the only ones who work in it, but the results are shared across the whole organization, where we assess if it's meeting the goal of providing purchases and revenue at a high ROI.
  • Easy import from Google Ads, if you do most of your management there.
  • Chat support is very responsive, unlike Google Ads where it's mediocre at best.
  • The interface has become quite nice recently (although they appear to be directly copying Google Ads, which is fine I suppose).
  • I feel like some of the types of campaigns (Shopping, Dynamic) don't seem to work as well on the Bing side.
  • The interface is a bit clunky.
  • Minor, but having to re-log-in every time you want to look at your accounts is a bit annoying.
It's a supplement to Google Ads if you're running Google Ads. The search volume is lower and the demographic is different, but it can provide decent ROI and exposure if you manage it well.

If your target demo is a bit younger/more internet capable, it may not be the best fit as Bing Search users tend to be a bit older.

We currently use Bing Ads for a few clients at our agency, most of which have additional budget to spend. It is currently only being used by the paid media team, and for only select industries/business goals. There is almost always some type of additional opportunity for scale on the Bing Network, but must be approached differently than a Google Search campaign. We've seen varying degrees of success with Bing Ads, and can help improve the overall digital efforts in certain cases.
  • Familiar interface, offers editor for bulk changes, adding negative keywords is much easier than in Google Ads
  • Nice reporting tools within the interface, detailed reports can be made fairly easily
  • Had very nice tools to help import/export ads directly from Google Ads, which saves a ton of time
  • Quality of traffic is comparatively lower compared to Google Ads, very important to confirm at what networks ads are being served on
  • Average CPC can sometimes be higher than on similar ad networks
  • Less overall volume and avg lower quality can make it difficult to justify investment
If there is a situation where you've reached diminishing returns on Google Ads and/or Facebook, Bing would be a decent place to supplement some budget. Also, if you're in an industry that has an older customer base, you're likely to find that a larger percent of users using Bing/Yahoo as their primary search engine, presenting a larger potential opportunity. Due to the average quality and limited volume, I would not recommend Bing as primary platform for Paid Search.

We are a digital advertising agency, and our entire paid media team uses Bing Ads (Microsoft Ads, now) for at least one client, but often many clients. We try to prioritize Google Ads due to its much larger audience sizes; however, Bing provides additional inventory outside of Google - and usually at a much more affordable price. Bing also has some features we really love and can't get in Google Ads, like image ad extensions, and LinkedIn targeting capabilities.
  • More cost-effective inventory than Google Ads.
  • Image ad extensions (not available in Google Ads, but very cool & effective feature for our more visually-branded clients).
  • LinkedIn audience targeting integrations.
  • Bing's ad platform could definitely use some improvements - it hasn't been updated in a long time, and it feels very outdated.
  • We feel that the optimization algorithms don't always perform as well for Bing Ads as they do in Google Ads (optimize for conversions, etc.).
  • It would be great to have even more integrations with LinkedIn audience targeting offered - right now, you can just make some bid optimizations in a couple of areas; we'd really like to get more robust options there, and maybe even things like cross-platform tracking.
Bing is fantastic to pick up additional inventory outside of Google Ads. It's also much more cost-effective. Its audience demographics tend to skew slightly older, slightly more blue-collar, and slightly more traditional/conservative. This is great if your target audiences match this demographic, or use Microsoft products that align with Bing usage. Bing is also great for B2B audiences with its LinkedIn audience targeting integrations.

You can't ignore Bing, period. When it comes to SEM, you need Bing in addition to Google Ads, or you risk missing 10-25% of all search users. As Google continues to lose it's search majority, other engines like Bing only become more important and necessary in your overall marketing plan.
  • User friendly
  • Cheaper than Google
  • You can import/update from Google Ads = less work and time!
  • I've yet to find an issue, period.
Bing Ads are ideal for short or long term campaigns. I cannot imagine a scenario where it wouldn't be helpful or applicable.

Bing Ads was supposed to be a supplementary ad network, besides the obvious Google Ads and facebook ads. It turned out to be a total failure and an absolutely unacceptable experience.
  • There are no points that Bing does well.
  • Ads have not been approved for WEEKS.
  • There's no real possibility of fixing things.
  • The support personnel keep apologizing, but offer no real support.
I give a rating of 4 stars, merely because of the effort of the support personnel, who've done a great job in trying to help me, but they obviously have no power to do so. The entire account is in a funny state. Initially, ads have been disapproved, then they are eligible but not running at all; the entire Bing Ads system offered an absolutely unacceptable experience.
What is wrong with these people? Seriously? It takes 2 weeks to approve some ads?
At the same time, I've spent roughly the same amount on FB ads and Google Ads, and generated 300% ROI almost, on both.

Our organization uses Bing Ads as paid media acquisition channels for our clients. It's mainly used only by our paid media team. Bing Ads specifically helps our clients capture intent from users that use Bing Ads as their search engine. We use this to sell products and services for a variety of businesses.
  • Single handedly the best thing about Bing Ads is being able to import your Google Ads account directly into the platform. Without this and Bing Ads highlighting this, they wouldn't have many advertisers.
  • Another nice perk of Bing Ads is their free credit when you sign up. Getting a $100 is nice and you don't have to spend $100 to get the $100, they just give it to you right away.
  • Very similar to Google Ads, making the learning curve extremely small.
  • The UI/UX could use a lot of work. It looks worse than the old Google Ads UI/UX and is a lot slower loading.
  • One of the other draw backs of Bing Ads is their limited search inventory, which drives up CPCs, CPAs, etc.
  • Most Bing users are an older generation because they use PCs or it's their work computer and these individuals aren't as comfortable / likely to checkout online. As a result, it's hard to drive a lot of conversions because of this adoption curve.
Bing Ads is a solid paid media channel if your target audience is older individuals. Also, if you have maxed out a lot of other paid media channels or if you have highly successful Google Ads campaigns than it would be ideal to import into Bing Ads and test as a potential acquisition channel.

Bing Ads is not being used any longer inside my organization or any clients that I'm working with, but Bing Ads is another search network ads platform where my business or clients can target individuals searching for their exact needs or solution. These ads then show up on top of the search depending on when what the search query is.
  • Google Ads integration.
  • Free $100 credit to get started.
  • Much lower search volume.
  • less friendly UI/UX than Google Ads.
  • Older, less tech-savvy demographic searching (at least a con for my business).
Bing Ads is suitable for every business as you can just target off of people searching for your business, solution, or the need you're trying to solve. And the beauty is you don't pay unless someone clicks. But through Bing Ads, the sad part is that most people don't and there are very little individuals actually using it, especially with purchase intent. I would use Bing Ads only for the $100 free credit for some free traffic.

Bing Ads is used as one of the marketing platforms at the company, along with Google and Yahoo Gemini. Bing is one of the main search engines used, and Bing Ads is used - as marketers - to capture audiences that may be interested in a client's business. Bing Ads is used to create and launch advertising campaigns on the search platform, to bid on keywords, and to pull various analytics reports on advertisement performance. I specifically use it for gathering information on ad performance in order to optimize future advertising / keyword buying in the platform.
  • Analytics/reporting capabilities (getting metrics on ad campaigns)
  • Ad research for creating a tailored campaign to a particular need or segment
  • Keyword optimization and adjustments
  • Bulk editing campaigns can be time-consuming and frustrating
  • Data download/gathering speeds (ie, waiting a long time for a report to load)
  • Comparative performance - month over month, year over year - built into the platform as a rudimentary analytics capability
Bing Ads, along with Google and - to a lesser extent - Yahoo Gemini are really the core three search platforms for advertisers. It is well-suited for creating and launching ad campaigns in the platform, and for tailoring those campaigns for a specific audience or demographic. Additionally, it provides solid reporting capabilities to get data on campaign performance for optimization and strategy creation.

Bing Ads is being used as a way to complement our ads on Google and mainly used to reach a wider audience when we have saturated the Google market. Bing Ads also helps reach those who are not on Google and overall, drives a higher conversion rate in spite of its lower search volumes.
  • Bing tends to have a higher conversion rate than Google, mainly because of the nature of the users on Bing tend to be a bit older
  • Bing's universal event tracking, essentially a code that is placed on every page of your site, now allows you to utilise re-marketing lists to its fullest, as well as tracking and displaying your conversion points in the engine
  • Bing tends to lag a bit behind Google in terms of rolling out new features
  • Search volumes tend to be much smaller than Google's, around 1 /10th of Google's
  • Pulling reports for a long time scale, segmented by day is not fully supported, you have to pull the data multiple times with shorter time periods
As I have mentioned before, Bing Ads is very good when you have saturated the Google market. In my case, we have done just that and used Bing to expand our reach without compromising our targeting. This worked out very well, as we have driven a few more conversions with a small amount of extra spend. There is also less competition through Bing, so your CPCs tend to be cheaper.

We use BingAds to supplement our paid search efforts in a number of schools across the country. This allows us to ensure we are able to reach the entire search market at reasonable prices. Depending on the market, we find that BingAds can be a very successful place to get paid search leads. Additionally, due to the perception that it is not used often, we are often confronted with fewer competitors and a lower cost per click and per lead.
  • BingAds does a good job of matching similar structures and features of the more popular and familiar Google AdWords.
  • Bing Ads does a great job of providing integrations with our bid management systems.
  • The ability to clone or copy campaigns from AdWords saves time and effort in creating campaigns on the BingAds platform.
  • We have had lackluster support from our representatives in the past.
  • The lack of volume in the channel can make it difficult to get significantly significant results.
  • We have run into issues on bid management by device settings.
While we are quick to cut BingAds budgets when we have budget cuts in our school campaigns, we find that having a presence in the Bing search world will benefit our paid search efforts overall. This is because there are times where users will search both channels, and having a presence on one and not the other can limit your chances at getting the visitor. Additionally, there are times when, due to lower competition, we are able to get much lower cost per lead rates when compared with Google's AdWords.

I recommend having a presence in BingAds, when it is possible. But not to rely on it for heavy volume.

We use Bing Ads in our SEM department to expand our client reach. As the market share grows in Bing the more we will push adverting through the search engine.
  • Reach - Bing in the UK accounts for 23% of the market
  • In some cases, cheaper CPC nad lower CPA with a better ROAS
  • How they have made the set up straightforward by mirroring your AdWords account
  • Look at areas Google is not covering, Bing has always been 5 years behind AdWords its time to be different
  • Bing Analytics - but don't copy Google Analytics, look at areas they are not doing and capitalise on this
  • Audience target - As the future is all about targeted ads what is Bing doing on this front?
Bing accounts for 23% of the market share in the UK. To maximize reach and increase sales through a direct marketing platform you'd be silly not to explore this.

We use Bing Ads to manage PPC campaigns for our clients. While we usually allocate a larger spend for another online advertising service, we are still putting a smaller part of the budget towards Bing so that we are covering all search engine bases. It allows our clients to be seen on multiple search engines throughout the internet giving them greater exposure.
  • The Bing interface is easy to navigate & understand - it is simple, clean & does not have too many confusing 'extras' thrown in.
  • The ability to transfer full campaigns from other sources is a welcome & time saving benefit provided by Bing.
  • Ad Extensions are very easy to work with within the Bing interface (specifically the location interface) as opposed to some other online advertising services.
  • Having to click into the account several levels can be time consuming and confusing when wanting to be at the campaign level in order to see daily budget numbers.
  • Importing campaigns over from other online advertising services can cause hiccups within the Bing interface, making the process more time consuming. Having to go back and correct mistakes that did not carry over can be frustrating (location settings, ad urls, campaign names, etc).
I think Bing is a valuable asset to use when advertising a company online via a PPC campaign. It allows for more visibility for the client and covers yet another huge search engine that consumers are using. It is great to sometimes 'test' a campaign budget on Bing to see the clicks and CPC compared to other providers as Bing can sometimes provide a much higher amount of clicks at a lower overall budget.

Bing Ads is used by all media teams running a search for various clients. It address the need to have as much search coverage as possible for our clients and reach as many audience segments as possible.
  • The Editor tool is user friendly and allows for mass changes to be made in bulk, which saves a lot of time.
  • I like large selection of reports available to us and the many ways to cut and dice the data prior to exporting.
  • The alerts that pop up at the top for either program opportunities or errors. These are helpful especially on larger programs.
  • It would be great to have more insight into the "bing network search partners". With the majority of search partner traffic coming from there, it would be helpful to understand those partners better.
  • I'd like to see more options in updating shared keyword lists in the editor tool. Adding and removing campaigns in this view would be helpful.
Does it meet a business need? If coverage across all markets and all audiences is important to the client, then it meets that business need.

I work for a digital media agency. We use Bing Ads in conjunction with Google AdWords to expand our overall reach. Our entire team has experience using the Bing Ads platform.
  • Bing Ads is good for buying incremental traffic on top of your existing AdWords campaigns. You can import your campaign from AdWords very easily using a Bing Ads import tool.
  • Bing Ads is good for competitive markets where the avg. Cost-Per-Click (CPC) on AdWords is outside of the range you're willing to pay. Bing Ads CPCs are often significantly lower than AdWords.
  • Bing Ads allows you to simultaneously place your search ads on Bing and Yahoo at the same time.
  • The quality of traffic acquired from Bing Ads generally isn't as good as traffic from AdWords. Metrics like time on site and bounce rate reflect this when analyzing the traffic in Google Analytics. I attribute this to Google having better algorithms to detect click fraud and bots.
  • Bing Ads essentially copies AdWords feature for feature, but they roll their features out 3 or 4 months after AdWords has already implemented them. It would be nice to see more innovation from Bing Ads.
  • It would be nice to see Bing Ads roll out some new ad extensions and targeting options.
Bing Ads is especially appropriate for driving affordable traffic. Google AdWords can be very expensive for certain industries and categories. I would recommend Bing Ads for anyone who wants to expand the reach of their AdWords campaign in a cost-effective manner. I've also noticed that campaigns geared towards older populations (healthcare, for example) often perform especially well on Bing Ads.

Our department uses Bing Ads to run paid search campaigns through the Bing Search engine. We are an agency, so we run a variety of different paid search programs through Bing Ads for a variety of different clients.
  • Bing ads is the only way to reach consumers on the Bing Search Engine.
  • Bing is different than Google Search in many ways, so understanding your audience will help you understand if you need to use this platform or not.
  • Bing campaigns are typically much less expensive than Google campaigns.
  • Bing Ads Editor is not available on Mac, so our agency cannot use the entire functionality.
  • The interface in general is not as intuitive or as easy to use as other platforms. It is difficult to analyze data and make changes quickly. Much of the analysis needs to be done through the reporting feature and then the user needs to get in to the UI to make changes based on that data. It would be nice to see all the data in the UI, so that changes can be made right there.
  • The platform is slow and often has errors.
If you use Bing Ads it is all about audience and budget. If your audience is on Bing, it makes a lot of sense to use the product. If budget or time is strapped, it makes sense to only manage one platform (Google or Bing). If your audience uses more Bing, you will use Bing Ads. If your audience is more often on Google, use Adwords. Adwords is also easier and more intuitive for a beginner, so if this is your first time advertising, Bing ads may not be the best choice.
